Endurance Technology announced at IBC a range of Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) consulting and implementation services, targeted at OEMs and Consumer Electronics companies.

MHP has been embraced by the Digital TV industry as a global standard and has reached a level of maturity, in terms of specification and implementation, such as to be of interest to a wide range of organisations.

Any company wishing to develop an MHP platform, can choose to either acquire a complete solution from one vendor or select from a wide variety of third party components (MHP stack, JVM, applications and development tools) each having their own technical and commercial characteristics.

Whilst selecting ‘best of breed’ components is likely to offer the best MHP solution, it demands careful selection and integration of the system components. Product positioning, project timing and the level of available resources are key factors, which determine the right approach. Selecting the ‘right approach’ is where Endurance’s expertise proves invaluable as we have a proven track record developing and delivering such systems.

Endurance offers a range of MHP professional services, from initial business and product planning to technical feasibility and through to project implementation. The support offered by Endurance will help STB and CE Manufacturers achieve rapid time to market with a quality MHP product. Our work with Service Providers will ensure that the MHP product meets the demands of the Broadcast environment. A major benefit of working with Endurance is that we are third party component vendor agnostic, therefore achieving the best solution for our customers. Additionally, we pass on our knowledge and experience.

Managing Director Andrew Moyler said “We are very pleased to be able to launch Endurance’s MHP consulting capability at IBC. Many organisations are trying to work out the best way to deploy an MHP product and require specialist unbiased support.” Andrew was formerly with UK based DTV software services vendor Mediabright, a company he co-founded and sold to Canal+ Technologies.

Project Director Richard Nicoll added, “We have spent a considerable amount of time talking to customers to find out what support they need and working out where we can add real value. Our business processes and procedures, combined with a sound development methodology, ensure that we can deliver.” Richard was formerly a Divisional Director at Pace Micro Technology plc heading up their Cambridge operation.

Technical Director John Bartlett said “Endurance has a team of skilled MHP engineers, many of whom have worked on the development of MHP middleware products, in addition to providing systems integration support.” John has spent the last two years carrying out network design and systems integration within the UK’s digital cable network.
